European pollution regulations: Euro 7 is coming!

The European regulation which governs emissions from light and heavy vehicles was published last month. This regulation, called Euro 7, should be the last major step before the ban on the sale of light vehicles with thermal engines planned for 2035.

This regulation (2024/1257) will be applicable from the end of 2026 for light vehicles and mid-2028 for heavy goods vehicles. In particular, it introduces requirements on non-exhaust emissions such as braking particles and tire abrasion, on the durability of batteries in electrified vehicles, and on-board monitoring of exhaust emissions.

The technical prescriptions of these new requirements must be described in specific regulatory texts. For these purposes, UTAC is participating on June 5 and 6, as since 2019, in the AGVES group of experts – Advisory Group on Vehicle Emission Standards – brought together by the European Commission since 2019, promoting our expertise on all of these subjects and allowing to best guide the new regulations for safer and more sustainable mobility.
