Automotive Retrofit

The government recently took decisive action to boost the sector, with the publication of three decrees on 24 October. These texts represent a major step forward in the transformation of internal combustion engine vehicles into more environmentally-friendly options, such as electric or hydrogen.

What do these decrees mean?
Update of the order of 13 March 2020: This revision extends the categories of vehicles eligible for retrofitting, now including motor homes, tow trucks and vehicles for people with reduced mobility. It also simplifies the approval procedure for these conversions.
Easier vehicle conversion: Vehicles in service can now be more easily converted to more environmentally-friendly engines, such as hybrids, natural gas (NGV) or hydrogen.
Improved pollution control: Heavy-duty vehicles can benefit from improved exhaust gas post-treatment systems, aimed at achieving levels of pollution control equivalent to Euro VI.

UTAC’s expertise in this change: At UTAC, we are proud to play an active role in this ecological transition. Our team supports converters in the homologation tests required to validate these retrofit systems. Thanks to our expertise and state-of-the-art facilities, we ensure that conversions meet the highest standards in terms of safety and environmental performance.

One step closer to a more sustainable future: These regulatory changes mark a significant turning point for the automotive industry and for the environment. At UTAC, we are determined to support these innovative initiatives and contribute to a greener future.
