Brake testing

The Global Technical Regulation (UN GTR) 24 on Laboratory Measurement of Brake Emissions for Light-Duty Vehicles has been adopted during the 190th session of the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations, WP29, held from 20 to 22 June 2023.

It provides a worldwide harmonised methodology for the measurement of friction brake wear particulate matter (PM) and particle number (PN) emissions.

It applies to Light-Duty vehicles, i.e.: category 1-1 and 2 vehicles with a fully laden mass below 3,500kg.

UTAC is upgrading their brake test rig and will soon be ready to carry out tests according to this new GTR 24.
