UTAC launches two new testing services for AI-equipped vehicles: evaluation, verification, and benchmarking

Artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually integrating into the automotive sector, offering new features and enhancing driving capabilities. Automated vehicles, such as robot taxis, shuttles, buses, and trucks, as well as systems like the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC), are now at the heart of the technological evolution of the industry.

To address the challenges of AI integration in vehicles, UTAC is now offering two new testing services for evaluation, verification, and benchmarking, specifically dedicated to these cutting-edge vehicles:

  1. AI based vehicle evaluation & verification

This service allows for verifying that the AI-equipped vehicle is free from flaws. While AI is effective, it may have potential weaknesses such as repeatability, robustness against limits, or risks of overfitting. For these tests, UTAC uses the best regulatory and Euro NCAP testing scenarios, whether official or under study, adapted to the specificities of the systems and current reference performances. The goal is to ensure that the vehicle meets safety and reliability standards while verifying its ability to respond correctly in various situations.

  1. AI Based Vehicle Reverse Engineering

The second service aims to evaluate, understand, and explain the behavior and limitations of an automated vehicle. By targeting edge cases, this service enables testing of the most complex scenarios and provides a detailed analysis of the behavior of vehicles such as new robot taxis, automated buses, or trucks. This approach offers a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of intelligent systems.

UTAC has approximately 7 years of expertise in this field, gained through major projects with public authorities and insurers, as well as a 2-year thesis in partnership with a Parisian scientific institution (CNAM) on the evaluation and validation of AI-equipped vehicles.

Training on the validation of AI-equipped systems
In addition to these services, UTAC also offers training dedicated to the validation of systems or vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence, covering regulations and evaluation methods.
This training allows professionals to familiarize themselves with current requirements and best practices for testing and validating smart vehicles.
