Green NCAP Optimises Its Approach with the Introduction of the Vehicle Family Concept
Green NCAP is evolving with the introduction of the vehicle family concept, enabling the rating awarded to a tested vehicle to be extended to other models and trims sharing similar technical characteristics in terms of environmental performance.

Demanding and Representative Testing
This new approach supports the evolution of the Green NCAP programme introduced in 2025, including:
- chassis dynamometer testing
- Real Driving Emissions measurements using PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement Systems)
- low-temperature testing (down to -7°C)
- test conditions that are more demanding than those required for type approval
A Methodology Already in Use
Recently implemented and published on the Green NCAP website (https://www.greenncap.com/), this new approach enables a more efficient assessment process while remaining fully representative of real-world vehicle use.
UTAC is proud that this evolution of the Green NCAP programme, developed within the framework of a dedicated working group, was led by our Emissions & Energy Expert, Mathieu Lamarlière.
