IT Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you be responsible for the 2nd/3rd line of support for our core infrastructure, including email platforms, virtualisation environments, storage infrastructure, and network services. You will work closely with senior engineers to maintain and improve server and network environments.

You will also take a technical lead role on infrastructure projects, including researching, evaluating, and recommending new and emerging technologies that support operational efficiency, resilience, and future business requirements. The role will provide the opportunity for global collaboration on IT infrastructure and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper V, Morpheus. Deploy, configure, and monitor virtual machines and hosts.
  • Perform capacity planning, resource optimisation, and patch management.
  • Storage, administration of SAN/NAS storage systems, including provisioning, performance tuning, and monitoring. Ensure data integrity, backup operations, and disaster recovery.
  • Support LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and maintain network security.
  • Assist with network upgrades, configuration changes, and documentation.
  • Email & Messaging Systems
  • Administer and support enterprise email platforms (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online, M365).
  • Lead and contribute on infrastructure projects, including technology evaluations, system upgrades, migrations, and service improvements.
  • Provide 2nd/3rd line support for escalated incidents and service requests.
  • Maintain system documentation, diagrams, and standard operational procedures.
  • Manage user accounts, security groups, and GPOs within Active Directory.
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.

Qualifications

Relevant certifications such as:

  • Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE)
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP
  • CompTIA Network+ / Server+ / Security+

Or equivalent professional experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years in 2rd-3rd line roles supporting IT Infrastructure or Systems.
  • Hands on experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper V).
  • Experience supporting storage platforms (Dell EMC, NetApp or similar).
  • Familiarity with backup technologies and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Exchange Server, and enterprise email and messaging systems.
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).

Skills

  • Microsoft Server technologies with an understanding of AD, DHCP, GPO.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and infrastructure management platforms.
  • Familiarity with backup technologies and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple domains.
  • Excellent communication, documentation and technical writing skills.
