The United Nations Tire Regulations* were recently updated by the dedicated working group.

The United Nations Tire Regulations* were recently updated by the dedicated working group.

Clarifications have been provided on how certain tests are performed, the restrictions on installing certain tires on vehicle axles, and the markings on the sidewalls of motorcycle tires and run-flat tires.

The standardized reference test tires, used to compensate for variations in track conditions for certain tests, have also been modified to assess the snow performance of retreaded tires.

All the various regulations have been revised to align the texts with the same terms and ensure consistency between them. The UN regulations have also been brought into line with the latest ISO and ASTM standards.

UTAC is heavily involved in technical discussions and can conduct all relevant regulatory tests at its sites in Finland and France.
