Cold-weather reliability
UTAC’s teams in Finnish Lapland specialize in cold-weather testing for vehicles, components, and tyres, offering extensive snow and ice tracks alongside indoor winter test facilities and enabling year-round testing on natural snow and ice.

What we offer
Beyond the Arctic Circle, all year long

Situated 300 km north of the Arctic Circle, the two Utac site offer an extended winter testing season, with outdoor snow and ice tracks typically available from November through April.
Its cutting-edge indoor facilities featuring five specialized tracks allow low-friction (low-mu) testing even in summer, with surfaces including snow, ice, asphalt, and split-friction conditions.

Facilities and Infrastructure

UTAC Ivalo provides customers with well-equipped workshops, offices, and essential infrastructure strategically designed to ensure smooth, efficient testing operations.
The proving ground features purpose-built tracks for vehicle testing, including snow handling circuits, flat tracks, and a dedicated vehicle dynamics area. These tracks, made from compacted snow, support higher speeds with enhanced safety margins.

The indoor winter testing facility enables continuous cold-weather testing even during the summer months. Natural snow flats and snow handling are available from April to November, while asphalt and ice surfaces can be used year-round.
